Counter Sales : Glens Falls, NY and Rome, NY


JOB SUMMARY

 

The Counter Sales Person will provide the most efficient service and technical support to all current and potential customers while visiting our retail showroom.  This position will aid in exceeding the company’s sales goals and customer service expectation, by expediting and coordinating the flow of work within the branch and between branches as needed.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Answer phone calls, Process customer orders as they are placed

Assist outside sale representatives with researching accounts, part numbers, pricing, product availability ect.

Pull customer orders, branch transfers and receiving new product.

Create Service orders for welders, torches and regulator repairs.

Process rentals for welders, torches and regulators.

Follow the process of receiving a customer complaint, diagnose the cause, determine the correction, make a recommendation.

Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 

High school diploma, Prior experience managing a Welding Counter preferred

Must have at the time of hire, and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS drivers’ license free of major infractions. This position may require a Class B with HazMat license

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

Ability to work independently with minimum direction

Ability to enable a cooperative work environment

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Ability to understand direction and follow standard operating procedures

Must process excellent customer skills

Knowledge of specified products and/or services offered

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Counter Sales does not have any supervisory responsibilities


EQUIPMENT, MACHINES AND SOFTWARE USED

 

Ability to operate a computer, printer, photocopier, telephone, fax machine, calculator.

            Computer Software: Microsoft Outlook or Express, Word, Excel, and Term 43

Ability to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and face shield

 

MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work.

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions

 

Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

 

Work is performed in a shop environment.  The worker is exposed to temperature changes (inside and outside), noise, dust, orders, fumes, oils, vibration, hazardous materials, potential for physical injury, and proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles
